Hello,

I’m Andy. Recently I was introduced to a great on-line community, Yelp.com, here in Chicago. Through this website, I’ve met a ton of like-minded people who enjoy dining out and learning all that our beautiful city has to offer. Through Yelp, I suggested we start a book club. To my surprise I had well over 50 people interested in doing so. Out of this 50, close to 25 people showed up for our first meeting. Our first book? “A Thousand Splendid Suns” Hosseini’s second novel…

I’m so happy to have the chance to moderate such a great group of people on a monthly basis. When I started this book club, many people asked me, ” How do you expect to have any kind of conversation with so many people?” I had no answer then and still have no answer after only two meetings. Our meetings have been lively, fun and engaging..More than not we tend to learn more about each other when discussing the book. Which is what I attribute a great book club to. Learning and growing together.

So, for those out there who may read this…I know there’s someone…I urge you to get a group of people together and start a book club.. First, you just might be introduced to a title you may have not picked up, otherwise and second, you have the opportunity to form tight, lasting relationships through the love of books.
